ABSTRACT
In this paper the consumer's viewpoint of the true value of raw cotton was explained in reference to the so-called neps in raw cotton. The seed coat and mote fragments, appearing solely as impurities in the greige yarn and cloth, result in flap neps once the cloth has been finished. Six possible actions are mentioned to reduce or solve the seed coat fragment problem, offering a better possibility for the U.S. textile industry to stay competitive in the near future using U.S.- reduced raw cottons.
