ABSTRACT

A guinea pig model has beer developed for acute exposure to cotton dust inhalation. The model was tested for its ability to distinguish potencies of selected cotton dusts. Comparison was then made of dust potencies as determined by the animal model and by a panel of human volunteer. Although different respiratory parameters were measured in tie animal and human systems, both systems ranked each of three test dusts in the same order.
