ABSTRACT

The performance of an experimental combination cotton gin stand and lint cleaner system has been evaluated against a standard ginning and lint cleaning system. The experimental system was constructed to incorporate a gin stand and two lint cleaners into one unit. A unitized design eliminates the air ducts, fans, condensers and associated hardware currently used to convey lint in commercial systems. Elimination of pneumatic lint transport also eliminates much of the associated energy use, noise generation and air pollution. Operational performance of the experimental system and quality of the cotton fiber processed through it met or exceeded that of a standard commercial system using two lint cleaners.
