Practical Use of Low Pressure Cyclones

Chris Breedlove

ABSTRACT

Cotton Gins use pollution control devices to limit the emissions generated from the ginning process. Lint cleaner exhaust currently use 80 or 100 mesh screens on the condenser drum and a vane axial fan. Changing to cyclones for dust abatement increases, the operating pressure requirements. Operating cost increase with increase in connected horsepower. During the 1994 ginning season we installed new 1D-2D cyclones. These cyclones operating pressure is lower, resulting in reduced electrical costs.
