ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to determine the performance of new cotton cultivars planted on V. dahliae K. infested soils. The experiment was in 1992 at La Laguna Experiment Station, Mexico. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications. The mexican varieties Cian Precoz, Cian 95, Laguna 89 were compared with the commercial cultivar Deltapine 80. Data was taken on V.dahliae K. infestation, lint yield, earliness and fiber quality characteristics.

Results showed that Deltapine 80 had 43 per cent of diseased plants, significantly (0.05) higher than the value obtained for the other genotypes. Cian Precoz was the earliest cultivar and Cian 95 had the best fiber characteristics.
