Fully and partially male sterile cottons permitted observations of extent of insect pollination in different locations and under different management. Management was very important in determining the extent of seed set in the male-sterile hybrid as determined by lint yield. Outcrosses in hybrid seed fields were surprisingly high, supporting earlier reports of a competitive advantge for non-restoring pollen. |
