The Use of Cluster Analysis for Grading Textile Yarns

G.H. Rong, K. Slater, R.C. Fei

ABSTRACT

Textile yarn grading is an important attribute in establishing market value. In this paper, a new technique using splitting cluster analysis is presented for the purpose of classing yarns into grades. An example, in which the new technique is used to grade polyester-fibre/cotton blended yarns and the results are compared with those obtained from published literature using a standard procedure, is given to illustrate its applicability.
