Plant Monitoring as an Aid to Pest Management in Cotton

C.D. Klein, J.P. Zhang, and N.P. Tugwell

ABSTRACT

Information from the output of two computer programs, TOPMAP and COTMAN, used in plant monitoring can be useful in cotton insect pest management. TOPMAP provides information on square shed that is valuable in making appropriate control decisions for plant bugs. COTMAN provides dates that are important in informing the producer that insecticide applications can be terminated. Plant monitoring can be valuable in checking the effectiveness of the insect scouting program so that problems do not arise due to improper scouting.
