Scootair Module Moving System

Howard E. Stuller

ABSTRACT

Modules present a serious and costly materials handling problem to cotton gins. A new state of the art technology "air film" was used in the development of the ScootAir (Figure 1). Modules are loaded onto 10' wide x 36' long and 6" high platforms which are guided to the suction on a friction-free layer of air. This economical and practical system stores and moves two (2), three (3), four (4), six (6) or more modules. The gins mode of operation remains basically the same. The ScootAir carriers do not interfere with trailer traffic. No expensive shed modifications are required.
