New Gin Stand to Revolutionize Spinning Quality

D. Van Doorn

ABSTRACT

The need for an improved ginning method has been established by research work showing the large increase in pepper trash in the saw ginning process.

The Cage Gin Principle, first developed by Texas A&M under the sponsorship of Cotton, Incorporated, is now being further developed for commercialization by Lummus Corporation through an agreement with Cotton, Incorporated. The Anderson-Clayton Corporation is cooperating with Lummus in a test program.

The current Lummus design Cage Gin and Feeder under test in a commercial gin plant shows impressive results in lint quality, ginning rate, and percent good fiber removed from the seed.
