ABSTRACT
A method for rapidly and uniformly aging cottonseed using hot water was developed. Acid-delinted seed obtained from freshly opened bolls were placed in plastic mesh bags, dipped in 65C water for 30 to 40 minutes, and then fan dried. Resistance to deterioration was then determined by standard germination tests of the aged seed. Cultivar differences in resistance to deterioration determined by this method were closely related to differences determined by use of the standard accelerated aging technique.
