Strategies for Chemical Control of Cotton Aphid

F. A. Harris and R. E. Furr, Jr.

ABSTRACT

Comparison of predicted to actual cotton field losses in a small plot experiment at Stoneville, MS, in 1993 indicate that aphid infestation can cause yield losses that are fairly predictable. However, effective control capability with insecticides is being eroded by insecticide resistance in the cotton aphid. Small plot field trials in 1993 indicate that effective currently registered and new aphicides are limited.
