ABSTRACT

A study designed to determine the principle components of variance was conducted on High volume Instrument (HVI) measurements. The components under study were: for Spinlab 900-B and 900-C systems -instrument, operator, and fibrosampler; for Spinlab 900 Automatic systems and Motion Control, Incorporated 3500 and 4000 systems instrument and operator. Interactions between the components were also evaluated. Measurements included in the study were: micronaire, strength, length and length uniformity. The results from this study indicate that the instrument is the principle component of variance.
