An Analysis of World Cotton Trade Flows

ABSTRACT

The trade matrixes developed by the ICAC secretariat compare exports by destination reported by exporters to imports by origin reported by importers and are used to determine the differences and if possible to explain them, to fill gaps and to forecast future developments in cotton trade. The former USSR and China (Mainland) remain important factors in international cotton trade and data on 1991/92 and 1992/93 exports by destination and imports by origin, were estimated based an the trade matrixes.
