Recent Trends in Seasonal Shipping Patterns of U.S. Cotton Exports

Leslie A. Meyer

ABSTRACT

U.S. cotton exports follow a seasonal pattern associated with the timing of the cotton harvest. In this paper, 1992/93 seasonal export patterns are compared with actual shipments to determine the current export pace. Total U.S. upland exports and shipments to selected major importing countries are analyzed. For August-December, U.S. upland cotton exports were running slightly behind expectations based on the December 1992 export estimate for the season.
