Experimental Exposure to b-1,3-Glucan

R. Rylander

ABSTRACT

To further study the importance of -1,3-glucan for the development of symptoms in sick buildings, test persons were exposed to an aerosol of saline and endotoxin and -1,3-glucan in saline in a chamber for 4 hours. Symptoms of "stuffy nose" were caused by the endotoxin and 1,3-glum exposures whereas symtoms of headache, throat irritation and from the skin were caused only by -1,3-glucan
