ABSTRACT
Plant growth regulators (PGRs) allow for manipulation of physiological processes in cotton growth and development. Timings for PGR use range from infurrow application at planting to foliar applications in late season to enhance defoliation and facilitate harvest. PGRs vary in structure and function and typically cause the same responses as naturally produced hormones. Physiological changes from PGR treatment include increased photosynthetic rates, altered nutrient uptake, and improved water status of the plant. Numerous morphological changes are also caused by PGR treatment.
