ABSTRACT
The acceptance of West Texas cotton by our domestic textile industry has been, to say the least, interesting and has developed over a long period of time. One current and persistent detriment to further acceptance is the presence of bark in the cotton lint. Data compiled from the processing of 850,000 bales of West Texas cotton over the past ten years in a modern textile plant shows that operating efficiencies do not correlate with the number of bales of barky cotton used in the cotton blend.
