Potential Applications for Fecundal 5g on Cotton

W.R. Goodwine

ABSTRACT

Fecundal 5G, a new slow release granule fungicide, containing active ingredient imazalil, shows promising activity against Black Root Rot (Thielaziopsis basicola) and Texas Root Rot (Phymatotrichum omnivorum) of cotton. In greenhouse trials, Fecundal 5G, applied in-furrow at planting, significantly reduced the disease severity rating for T. basicola infection after 2 weeks. Against P. omnivorum, Fecundal 5G in-furrow treatment gave nearly an 80% reduction in percent dead plants after 14 weeks from planting.
