Winter Irrigation Reduces Spring Emergence of Pink Bollworm Moths

C.A. Beasley

ABSTRACT

A one time flooding (December 22, 1990) of experimental plots established in a late terminated commercial cotton field resulted in an average 60% reduction in emergence of overwintering pink bollworm as compared to similar but not winter-irrigated plots (20,884 emerging moths/A vs. 51,688 emerging moths/A, respectively).
