ABSTRACT

Basic lint cleaning principles used in saw ginning systems are reviewed. This material also includes information on the operating characteristics of multiple saw-type lint cleaners with respect to trash removal, lint wastage, bale value, and fiber damage. Maintenance requirements for smooth operation and quality cleaning results are discussed. Recent developments in new lint cleaner design are discussed along with information on several retrofit conversions for older machines.
