Producing Cotton on 30-Inch Rows

J.R. Williford

ABSTRACT

Five years of research comparing 30-inch rows to 40-inch rows indicate a lint yield increase associated with 30-inch rows. The lint yield increase obtained with the 30-inch row on Bosket very fine sandy and Dundee silty clay loam soils was 6.5% and 8.6%, respectively. Cotton production on 30-inch rows requires some changes in production inputs, the timing of those inputs is critical, and a higher level of management.
