The Economics of the Termination of Insect Control

D.W. Parvin, Jr.

ABSTRACT

Cotton is a high valued crop. The per acre value of individual fruiting sites is large. On well fruited cotton, insect protection should be continued until the boll in the cut-out position is safe from insect damage. on more typically fruited cotton (but grown to cut-out) , the value of the fruit on the top two branches will not cover the cost of an insecticide application.
