Risk Management from Stand to Harvest: Water in the Rainbelt

William E. Woodall

ABSTRACT

Irrigation in the rainbelt is supplemental to out approximately 50 inches of rain. However, there is not a year when cotton is not stressed by too much or not enough soil moisture.

It is difficult to correctly manage irrigation in the rainbelt, and many producer, have difficulty in getting consistent yield response. However, with a good total production program including good water management, yield per acre can be increased consistently and economically.
