The Use of Fungicides, Nematicides and Other Disease Management Practices in U.S. Cotton Production

Earl B. Minton, Ronald A. Davis and Kent L. Smith

ABSTRACT

A beltwide survey was made on the fungicides and nematicides used to control cotton diseases and nematodes. The survey was a cooperative effort of the State Universities and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) under the National Agricultural Pesticide Impact Assessment Program (NAPIAP) . Survey results include the ranking of pests in order of their economic importance, estimates of pesticide use, timing and efficacy, target pests for each treatment, estimates of acreage where pesticides and other management practices are used, expected alternatives to each pesticide used, and yield losses expected by the loss of current pesticides when alternatives are or are not used. The data given in this report are preliminary, and are subject to changes and corrections.
