Effect of Seed Treatments and In-Furrow Fungicides on Incidence of Cotton Seedling Disease

H.W. Kaufman and J.R. Supak

ABSTRACT

A trend toward earlier planting on the Texas high plains presented a need for better seedling disease protection. This study was conducted to determine if adding in-furrow treatments to seed treated with Captan + Apron, one of the more common seed treatments, would provide significant additional protection. In general, this extra protection from the in-furrow treatments was not found. Stand counts at 21 days were highest with Captan + Apron and Captan + Apron + Baytan. Seed treatments with Captan + Apron + Baytan provided the healthiest seedlings.
