Committed to Excellence

Tommy R. Funk

ABSTRACT

Good afternoon, and welcome to the 1992 Beltwide Cotton Production Conference. I am Tommy Funk, a producer from the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas and currently serve as Chairman of the Board of the National Cotton Council.

It is my pleasure to chair this afternoon's session and I look forward to hearing from all of today's speakers.

I want to thank all of the many individuals and firms who have helped bring us this conference. I want to especially recognize all of the sponsors, who are listed on the inside back cover of your program. Please take the time to thank the representatives of those groups for their help in holding this conference.

The theme for the next day and a half is "U.S. Cotton: Committed to Excellence and the Environment." I believe that by the conclusion of the program tomorrow afternoon you will realize fully how our industry is devoted to staying number one in the world. I also believe you will be able to take back to your operations information presented during this conference that will help us continue to excel in cotton production and processing.
