CAMS™ Computer Aided Management System (Pivot Sprinkler Irrigation Control System)

H.D. Howard

ABSTRACT

Computer aided management technology enables owners and operators of pivot irrigation systems to more efficiently manage their sprinkler systems for increased profits. This level of technology, considered by some to be futuristic, is available today and is being adapted in increasing numbers. A grower can program his systems to execute commands and he doesn't have to be in the field at the time of execution. It saves time, labor, energy and water. This results in the lowering of production costs and the increase of net profits, especially when yields may be increased because of better management. In effect, C:A:M:S provides: a (1) field management for multiple crop irrigation within the same field, (2) for the application of water in an efficient, timely basis, (3) for the management of electrical loads thus saving energy cost, and (4) a manager for application of fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides applied through mechanized sprinkler systems.
