The Low Temp Conveyor: Gentle and Efficient Drying

Weldon Laird, Roy Baker and Curtis Stewart

ABSTRACT

A prototype belt conveyor drying system was manufactured and installed in a commercial cotton gin plant. The belt drier gave significantly greater drying than a tower drier at the same mixpoint temperature and slightly greater drying at a temperature 44° F lower than the tower. A 20 percent higher airflow was achieved through the belt drier within the same push-pull fan system.
