Curacron® 6ec for Control of Bollworm/budworm, Beet Armyworm, and Cotton Leaf Perforator

S.T. Moore

ABSTRACT

CURACRON 6EC cotton insecticide was registered by CIBA-GEIGY Corporation in 1982 for the control of bollworm/budworm complex, cotton leafperforator, and the beet armyworm. CURACRON should be applied at use rates of 2/3 to 1-1/3 pints depending upon infestation levels, i.e., use the highest rate when infestation levels are heavy. Although CURACRON has good contact Heliothis ovicidal activity, CURACRON can be tank mixed with GALECRON® for superior egg and larvae control of bollworms and budworms.

For control of economic levels of the cotton boll weevil CUCRON should be tank mixed with labeled rates of Guthion or methyl parathion.

Due to the intense use of the pyrethroids in the last few years, secondary pests such as armyworms and spider mites have increased in importance. CURACRON fits well into a non-pyrethroid rotation scheme that minimizes the risk of pyrethroid resistance plus allowing control of some secondary pests that are not controlled effectively by the pyrethroids.

Possible label expansions for the CURACRON label include the control of spider mites, fall armyworm, Lygus, plant bugs, fleahoppers, thrips, and pink bollworm.
