ABSTRACT
A microencapsulated capsule suspension (CS) formulation of the organophosphate, Curacron (profenofos), was compared with an emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation for efficacy against laboratory-reared tobacco budworm (TBW) (Heliothis virescens F.) on greenhouse grown cotton using two nozzles at 0.25 lb (AI)/acre. These tests indicated that there were no significant differences between CS and EC formulations of Curacron in controlling TBW. Nozzle size of sprayers did not significantly influence mortality of TBW. Days post-treatment with Curacron significantly influenced mortality of TBW larvae. There were no significant main effect interactions among any of the variables. Although statistically not significant, data suggests that Curacron CS with a large nozzle size produced a greater mortality of TBW larvae when compared with other nozzle/formulation combinations.
