Bronchial Reactivity and Symptoms in Workers Exposed to Organic Dusts in Farming

Maria Carvalheiro, Yvonne Peterson, Eva Rubenowitz, and Ragnar Rylander

ABSTRACT

Pulmonary function and bronchial reactivity were studied in persons exposed to organic dusts in a farm environment and in a reference group not exposed to organic dusts. Pulmonary function baseline values were close to normal. Bronchial reactivity was increased and related to subjective symptoms of mucous membrane irritation (MMI) and chronic bronchitis (CB).
