ABSTRACT
Boll sized specimens of cotton grown in California were attached to cotton plants in North Carolina and exposed to field conditions throughout the period that the North Carolina cotton bolls were open. Some specimens were inoculated with organisms prior to attachment to the plant. At the end of the season, the attached cottons and cottons from the host plant were harvested. Bacterial counts and endotoxin levels will be presented. This is a continuation of a paper presented at the 1989 Beltwide Conference that compared similar studies in Lubbock, Texas and Raleigh, North Carolina.
