ABSTRACT

A four year study was conducted to determine the optimum irrigation strategy for Acala cottons in the San Joaquin Valley utilizing pressure chamber measurements of leaf water potential. Irrigation regimes that included non stressed, low stress or stressed conditions were evaluated on five varieties over a four year period. Results demonstrated that one irrigation strategy, -15 bar first irrigation and -18 bar subsequent irrigations, consistently maximized yields for all varieties.
