Overhead Labor Cost on Cotton for in the Delta Area of Mississippi

Laura R. Cox, David W. Parvin, Jr.

ABSTRACT

Farm labor surveys conducted for the 1980 and 1981 crop years indicate that MAFES/MMS/USDA cost of production budgets for the major raw crops produced in the Delta area of Mississippi underestimate the total cost of farm labor. On the average, the underestimation is equal to 1.38 times the 1980 and 1981 MAFES/MCES/USDA budget estimates of labor cost.
