Biologically Active Compounds in Cotton: An Overview

A.A. Bell and R.D. Stipanovic

ABSTRACT

Many natural products with biological activity have been isolated from the cotton plant. Byssinosis may involve several different natural products of cotton; each may, affect different types of human cells or different activities of any one cell. The chemistry, tissue distribution, and known biological activities of the natural products in cotton are reviewed.
