Strength-HVI Vs. Stelometer

Emerson E. Tucker and Dale L. Shaw

ABSTRACT

The Stelometer and HVI Strength Instruments both have been used for many years to determine the fiber strength of cotton bales. This information is used by many textile mills in determining the way cotton bales are mixed at the mill. This paper will review the way one mill selected which instrument to use in determination of strength values.
