Economic Impact of IPM

Ronald H. Smith

ABSTRACT

Economic evaluations of IPM programs are difficult. Several evaluation methods are discussed which have been utilized in the various states to determine the economic impact of IPM. The results of this survey of Extension entomologists from all cotton producing states indicate that 6.8 million acres are now included in some type of IPM program. Grower cost for IPM is $14.3 million while the economic benefits are in excess of $133 million annually.
