Efficacy of Ovasyn Against Cotton Insects

James D. Land

ABSTRACT

Ovasyn 1.5 EC is in the latter stages of development as an ovicide/synergist for control of Heliothis in cotton. Summaries of research results during the past two or three years indicate that ovasyn is an excellent ovicide for Heliothis as well as a synergist for the synthetic pyrethroids and various other types of insecticides against Heliothis. The versatility of Ovasyn in binary mixtures with other insecticides used in all phases of resistance management and the additional benefits provided by ovasyn combination treatments (suppression of spider mite and aphid buildups, safety to predators, behavior modification, and ease of handling) make ovasyn an excellent candidate to replace chlordimeform in cotton insect control.
