Microbial Control of Bollworms in Texas Cotton, 1980-82

ABSTRACT

Studies for the 3 years, 1980-82, of a mixture of microbial insecticides plus a cottonseed meal feeding stimulant showed this material to be effective for bollworm, Hellothis zea (Boddie) control in cotton. Against levels of worms on the order of 5,000 to 12,000 per acre, this mixture provided considerable square and boll protection, and hastened blooming. Earliness of harvest was significantly increased. This was accomplished with and without a full complement of beneficial arthropods.
