Interfield Movement of Pink Bollworms, Dispersal from a Central Origin: Development of Trapping Techniques

David H. Akey

ABSTRACT

Bolls were infested with eggs of the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders). Boll samples were taken to determine the infestation rate. Male pink bollworm dispersal was monitored with a series of pheromone funnel live traps. A vehicle-mounted net was studied as a possible collection device to capture female pink bollworms. The collection net was mounted on either a large sprayer or on a pickup truck.
