In February 1982, OSHA published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) on Cotton Dust in the Federal Register. This is the first step in starting a new rulemaking on cotton dust. A proposed revised cotton dust standard is expected to be published in early 1983. The efforts of OSHA to review the cotton dust standard through this new rulemaking are discussed as well as OSHA policy in general.
