A Study of Seed Coat Fragment Propensity in Cotton Cultivars

Jacques J. Hebert and Devron P. Thibodeaux

ABSTRACT

Five Acala cottons, two with high seed coat fragment counts and three with low seed coat fragment counts, were included in a study of fiber properties in order to determine plausible causes of the propensity for certain cultivars to produce a highseed coat fragment count. Physical properties were determined and compared for each variety grown in three locations.
