What Yarn Spinners Need from Cotton Producers, Ginners, and Shippers

Clarence D. Rogers

ABSTRACT

The cost of the fiber can represent a high portion of the total cost of cotton yarns, and proper fiber management is an indispensable facet of the operations of the spinning mill. This is particularly so in today's mill, where higher processing rates, a variety of spinning technologies, and changing yarn requirements place unprecedented demands on fibers and spinners alike. These yarn quality requirements, specified by the customer, are becoming more and more of a challenge to spinners who want to improve market share and compete in the global market place.
