Approaches Toward the Management of Insecticide Resistance in Heliothis

R.T. Roush, R.G. Luttrell, and H.W. Chambers

ABSTRACT

The development of pesticide resistance is a major problem for agricultural pest management. We have formed a multi-disciplinary team (geneticist, field entomologist, and toxicologist, respectively) to investigate how pesticides can be used to manage resistance development in ways compatible with modern agronomic practice. The research is focused on studies of the biologies of resistant strains and the potential for use of combinations (mixtures) of insecticides to inhibit resistance development in Heliothis.
