Can the Microbial Flora of Cotton Lint in the Field Be Influenced by a Change in the Environment?

J.J. Fischer, K. Foarde, and C. Heintz

ABSTRACT

Different cultivars of cotton are grown under differing environment and agricultural conditions in different locations in the southern United States.

Cottons grown and harvested in California, and cottons that have been washed and bleached have been exposed to two different environments (Clayton, NC, and Lubbock, TX). Studies detail the microbiological flora and compare it with the flora of cottons grown in the same area. Endotoxin determinations are included.
