Nazas 87. A New Southwestern Cotton Rust Tolerant Variety

Arturo Palomo Gil

ABSTRACT

A cotton rust tolerant variety, named Nazas 87, was developed by the cotton breeding program of the CIAN-INIFAP-SARH. This variety was tested under two different cotton production systems during three years, from 1983-1985. Deltapine 80 was the check variety. Nazas 87 outyielded by 10 percent the lint cotton production of the check. The new variety also showed a better micronaire and fiber strength than Deltapine 80.
