Design and Implementation of a Multi-Unit Secondary Cooling System for Spar Units

J.M. McKinion and C.J. Bell

ABSTRACT

A reliable and efficient secondary cooling system was designed and implemented to control the environment of naturally sunlit environmental growth chambers (SPAR units, an acronym for soil-plant-atmosphere-research). The system was designed for operation throughout the year. During the first six months of operation, there have been no failures in system components and control design criteria have been exceeded.
