ABSTRACT
Monitoring of Heliothis spp. response to pyrethroid insecticides has been conducted at several locations in the Southeast to track the development of resistance. Conventional topical application techniques have shown no shifts in dose-response compared to baseline data or only small differences compared to susceptible laboratory strains. Similarly, the use of the moth/vial technique has shown no occurrence of significant resistance in H. virescens to the pyrethroid compounds. A near 10 fold decrease in susceptibility to permethrin was noted in field collections of the soybean looper, Paeudoplusia includens from Georgia cotton fields using topical application.
