The Suitability of Certain American Cottons for the Production of Fine Count Rotor-Spun Yarns

John B. Price

ABSTRACT

After optimising spinning specifications, cottons of good grade from four major growth areas were rotor-spun into three yarns considered to be fine by rotorspinning standards. An analysis of the nature of the spinning interruptions showed that cleanliness is vital for successful rotor spinning. The Non-lint content of the bale samples was a poor indicator of performance, which was more influenced by the nature of the trash.
